Not that you would know this but what is the minimum size compressor needed? I'm looking at the Tornador Blow Out Gun. I have a P.C. 6 gallon compressor, the pancake one Lowes sells.

Hey Steve, there are a couple of things that are in play with the Tornador and I would say if your pancake compressor fits the min requirements then you are good to go.

#1 (This is off memory alone) I think the requirement for effective use of the Tornador is ~4CFM compressor at 90psi. Only having 6 gallons to work with will require you to let the compressor catch up in filling the tank, so you will DEFINITELY have a lot of downtime. I have a 30 gallon compressor and if I do a complete interior and door jams and use it continuously I am able to rock and roll but I am afraid that anything lower than a 30 gallon tank will require you to take regular breaks.....or will require you to lower the psi to a point where you will lose some of the effectiveness of the gun.

#2 The type of work you will be using it for. If you are just blowing crevasses, air ducts etc.. over delivering solution and chasing that solution, then I think a 6 gallon would suffice provided it meets the above minimum standards

#3 I researched the simple blow out gun (no solution tank) and the requirements for that one is 40 L/min which I think converts at a little less than 2 CFM?! So if again if you are just blowing air and were not looking for the Tornador with the solution tank then the pancake SHOULD be able to take care of you (unless the working CFM are less than 2CFM)

Hope this helps!?! Having played with a couple of pancake compressors I think I remember that they run about 3 cfm at 90psi, so I think you may have a couple of issues there.

Thanks Claude. Since mygarage is part of our home, a larger compressor would be too noisy. I may get one, the blow out model, and see. My compressor is 2.6 scfm at 90 psi.
