I have used CarPro Flyby30 in the past with great results. Only on windshields though. I have learned recently that FORTE is regarded by most as the best non-pro (can be purchased by the general public) coating for glass. I have a customer that is wanting it applied to ALL the windows on his Mustang to prevent water spots. I know a coating, especially one as good as FORTE, has to help with this, but I haven't seen any specifically saying they prevent water spots. I realize they mainly do their work to shed water when the vehicle is moving so I wanted to see what you guys thought/experienced. Do coatings for glass eliminate, reduce, or have no effect on water spot formation?
 
A glass coating will help significantly with this. However if all the water is not sheeted off or removed from the glass, and it is allowed to dry in the sun, water spots are going to be possible. But removing them will be easier with Forte applied.

Thank you! Makes sense as no coating is "bullet proof". I'm anxious to try out FORTE.
 
I will be applying FORTE before we leave on vacation. We are leaving from Texas to North Carolina and we always get hit with some heavy rain.
 
I have had Forte on my CLA 45 for about 1 month now. So far so good. I have not driven in much rain yet however it did rain a bit today as i was driving around town. It seemed as though i needed to be driving over 70km/h for the water to start sliding up the windshield.

I found installation was straight forward, however i used to much product on the first windshield installation, I did 2 more windshields and used a lot less product. When some water is on the window, it comes off nicely with the windshield wipers. There is not blade chatterand no petroleum hue that flashes as per Rainex. So far i really like the product.

I applied FORTE on my brand-new car (glass and wiper blades). After curing, I experienced wipers skipping badly.

I already tried to clean the blades carefully with Eraser several times, then applied Forte again. However, cannot solve the issue.

Can new wipers solve the issue?
Can I polish the glass slightly to make it smoother without removing of the FORTE?

Please tell me your recommendations.

Hello Bridgehl4,

I've never applied Forte to wiper blades, this may be your problem. When applying Forte, it is recommended to only clean the wiper blades thoroughly and (optionally wipe Reload on and off of them).

I will clean the wiper blades and break-in it under water hose for a while.

hi guys
i joined the forum as i use a few carpro products and just recently did my windscreen in forte but didnt get the results i expected and hoping someone can provide some insight.

The car is only 3 months old but i cleaned it thoroughly, polished and erased as per directions. I applied 3 x layers and buffed off using the same cotton pad.

The result is that the droplets seem to form thousands of micro droplets instead of larger ones like you see in normal water beading. When you turn on the wipers especially just 1 clearing wipe it seems to give a smearing effect like the inside is slightly foggy. In heavier rain and wipers on constant it wipes fine. Also the wipers squeak and chatter slightly.

I noted on this thread about applying forte to the blades. I did so as it stated in the instructions to do so. I was surprised to read that to be honest but did it anyway. However i think the fact that the windscreen is not beading properly means its something to do with the application.

I was thinking of applying another coat or 2 to see if that makes any difference, do you think it will be ok to just clean the windscreen without removing the forte and applying over the top or do i need to remove and start from scratch ?
 
What did you polish the glass with? Also, was this by hand or machine? Also did you clay the glass? Did you saturate the glass with Eraser or use it sparingly?

I don't think it is application or prep at this point... but give me a more detailed explanation of your process.

apologies for very late follow up to this thread - the notification went to spam folder

I have done another car windscreen with forte - this time i used a DA with the CPro rayon pad and polished it up nicely. The car was 12 years old and it made a huge difference to the clarity. I then used eraser moderately to clean off polish. I then applied 3 x coats of forte generously and making absolutely sure i never missed a spot. Buffed off with same pad to finish but didn't apply to wipers.(Wiper blades are newish replacements)

The result was that the beading and run off was improved but it still smears when using wipers in light rain. In light rain the small micro drops are smeared across the screen rather than being cleanly wiped off. Each tiny drop creates a thin line as it is wiped and this multiplied by many lines produces a smear effect.

So both applications resulted in smears at low rain levels, the first application is worse as not polished with a DA but the wipers were forte'd and i think this produced the squeak and chatter. The 2nd car has no squeak or chatter so reluctant to forte the blades.

Out of interest, I have seen smearing mentioned a few times on other forums relating to windscreen sealants so I am guessing that due to the smooth polished screen and the slippery effect of the sealant that it may be reasonable to suggest that this causes the smear. Also i think the reason why some applications dont have an issue is due to the pressure the blades have on the windscreen. My 2nd car has smaller length blades and more even pressure across the length of the blade while the first car has very long blades. The ends of the blades sit lighter on the screen resulting in denser smearing and in my case a squeak and a chatter at the bottom ends of the blades.
 
just an update on this as i learned a very important piece of information from my local car pro reseller.

Dont use window washing additives if you are using forte as the surfactant's cause hazing/smearing. This is likely contributing to my issues as i topped up both windscreen reservoirs with window washing fluid and i tend to be over generous with dilution ratios. Their recommendation is clean water and some IPA. (quantity of IPA unspecified)

Also another reason they mentioned is over application of forte - for me i found it very hard to gauge how much i was putting on as it dries almost instantly and i couldnt tell if i was just rubbing a dry pad or in fact it had forte on it and it was actually being applied. When you fist start applying the pad you can see the forte on the screen but after only a few seconds it disappears. I think it is still applying forte but just cant see it. Therefore i would reach for the bottle just in case and i think i applied too much. Especially for the second attempt as i was thinking that the issue i had the first time was not enough forte !!

Overall my personal opinion on forte is that is a tricky product to apply and experience counts for a lot. I also think more installation info would go along way to avoid issues as its an expensive product and i have gone through most of my 15ml bottle on 2 x screens going through the learning process. I dont have enough left to redo them and dont think i will buy any more to do again. Just my 2c worth.
 
Anyone managed to solve chattering issues with Flyby Forte?

This is my 2nd application and wipers still chatters it's annoying ! First application I just eraser / IPA the windscreen along with claying as the car was new from the dealer applied forte and it chattered. So headed out and got ceriglass this time and applied steps below but the wipers still chattered

1) washed windscreen
2) Clayed and scraped with plastic blade
3) polish with Ceriglass
4) generously applied eraser to ensure windscreen was clean
5) eraser wiper blades as well
6) applied forte on windscreen and wiper blades ( as per instructions on the box )
7) left wipers off the glass for 30mins and made sure no water touched the car for 24hrs

And it still chatters...tried rubbing soap on to the wiper blades but once it washed off the chatter comes back

Read that applying reload would help? Should I try that? Or does anyone have a better solution ?

Should I just get new blades and apply reload instead of forte since I assume forte isn't going to come off with eraser?

I polished my forte off with a da polisher and a rayon pad - and it still chattered (and squeaked) its the forte on the blades - it has affected the rubber - my drivers side blade i had to replace as i couldn't get it to stop squeaking. Its a new car and the blade was expensive.

i own many car pro products but forte i would not touch again - also with a polished screen and good blades - you just dont need water repellency - it works just fine without it

Same here paulb! I'm a huge Carpro fan and figured since every other car pro product worked great I try give forte a shot. I normally don't put anything on my front windshield because of this exact problem with chattering..

Really regret applying forte! I'm gonna try applying some reload on the wipers tomorrow and see if that helps or solves the issue..otherwise like you everything is coming off and I'm staying away from forte!
